YT28型鑿巖機的使用范圍較廣，適用于在中硬或堅硬（f=8~18）巖石上鉆鑿水平和傾斜炮孔，也可垂直向上鉆鑿頂板上的錨桿孔。炮孔直徑一般為34~42毫米，有效經濟的鉆孔深度可達5米。本機既可以根據(jù)巷道斷面大小與FT160BD型短氣腿、FT160BC型長氣腿或FT160S型雙級氣腿配套使用，也可以裝在鉆車或鉆架上工作。

本機配有透明殼體的FY200B型注油器，便于觀察油面、調節(jié)油量，以保證良好的潤滑。
